I'm posting this upcoming event for my friend Sheri Daye, who is hosting it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The Blue Wild" Spearfishing Expo
It was so much fun....we're doing The Blue Wild thing again!
Speakers this year: Terry Maas, Art Pinder, Dan MacMahon, Kirk Krack, Daryl Wong, Ron Mullins and lots more, covering many interesting topics. The speakers and agenda are on the website. http://www.thebluewild.com/. We will also have Jay and Julie Riffe, Ditmar Biller, Mark Laboccetta, Roger Yazbeck, and more.
It's on June 29 and 30, (Friday afternoon and Saturday), at the IGFA Museum. Besides great speakers, we have some new things -- a very special Dive History display by Ron Mullins, a Happy Hour with free drinks sponsored by Divers Direct, a Film Festival on Friday night with high-def projector, a raffle with over $20K of items, and a special Workshop/Demo room.
Chip Bissell is an expert at handling seafood and will give some great tips, as well as an update on the Freediver's Recovery Vest. Stephen Metcalf is offering a Nitrox certification class during the event and will do a workshop on polespearing.
Jupiter Dive Center is sponsoring a DAN O2 Provider certification course. Julie Riffe, Bonnie Row, and I will do a Women-Only session, Dave Earp will give a fascinating lobstering lecture, and Chad Carney will do a freeshafting workshop....the topics go on and on, so choose the ones you want to attend. Thanks to our major sponsors: Divers Direct, Flanigan's, Pelagic Gear, Marriott Courtyard, C4, Florida Skin Diver, Wong Spearguns, and Spearfishing Magazine.
For out-of-towners, the Marriott Courtyard next door to IGFA is offering a great rate of $99/night (must reserve by June 1 to get that rate). They have a free shuttle to/from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. That rate is good from June 22 through July 9th, so with July 4th around the corner, why not come on over and make a dive vacation out of it? For more info or to sign up, go to this website. http://www.thebluewild.com/
It'll be one big happy spearfishing party, and you are invited to come and enjoy!
